Mount Airy Casino Resort Primed To Unveil Luxurious Expansion
On May 3 there will be another layer of luxury added to the first AAA Four-Diamond casino resort in the Keystone State. Mount Airy Casino Resort, located in the pristine Pocono Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania, is primed to unveil their nearly $40 million expansion that includes a new 20,000-square-foot convention center and ballroom to serve as a state-of-the-art venue for private and corporate events, weddings and entertainment. In addition, accommodations include 100 new guest rooms, including nine new executive suites, increasing the number of available rooms by over 50 percent to nearly 300.
“Mount Airy Casino Resort has cultivated an unwavering commitment to our guests by providing the highest quality hotel accommodations and resort amenities,” says Lisa DeNaples, owner and managing trustee of Mount Airy Casino Resort. “This latest expansion represents the demand for top-notch event space and more overnight accommodations and is a bold reflection of our commitment to keep raising the bar of our resort’s customer-focused luxury brand.”
The expansion was designed by the Friedmutter Group, known for their work at the Cosmopolitan resort in Las Vegas, who was challenged to design a contemporary space that embodied the beauty of the surrounding Pocono Mountains with a clean, luxury feel. To achieve this, the designers took an “earthy elegance” approach, uplifted by a nearly 30-foot-long hand-forged steel and glass ribbon chandelier. The custom fixture, designed by a California-based designer, stands as the centerpiece of the event space’s center lobby and the light reflecting from the ribbons represent the twilight sun dancing over the mountains.
In addition to the light fixtures, guests will be welcomed in the 4,000 square-foot pre-function space with a focal bar, featuring a sculptural carved wood bar face, organic marble countertop and a stunning backdrop featuring halo lit, upholstered panels that represent the silhouette of the mountains. The artwork draws inspiration from a contemporary organic palette with the colors of autumn and patterns from the local natural surroundings. Soft colors and materials drawn from nature, with bronze and russet accents inspire the overall color scheme, while rosewood portals, pilasters and accent wall coverings complement the rooms. Carpet grounds the space with organic motifs and natural patterns in color of warm auburn, taupe, brown and tan with highlights of orange.
