THINGS TO DO NEAR MOUNT AIRY

HIKING
Kurmes Preserve – Kurmes Paradise Creek Nature Preserve is 400 acres, bisected by SR-940, dividing it into two sections. North of SR-940, Tank Creek and Yankee Run along with some smaller watercourses form the headwaters of the Paradise Creek. These riparian areas have dense Rhododendron and Hemlock with other associated deciduous species. There are also a number of vernal pools. The upland area is predominately mixed oak often with a dense understory of Mountain Laurel. South of SR-940 is mostly dry upland with mixed oak.
Pocono Biking – Pocono Biking is open for trail riding daily April through October. The most popular trip is the BIG DAY OUT which includes biking and rafting. You’ll ride over 20 miles of beautiful Rail-Trail and raft the Mighty Lehigh River!
FISHING
Paradise Trout Preserve – Established in 1902, Paradise Trout Preserve is Pennsylvania’s first licensed trout hatchery. The larger pond is stocked with trout (rainbow, brown, brook, golden, and tiger) and the smaller pond is stocked with largemouth bass. Pole rentals, bait, tackle, ice, and snacks are available at the store. Self-guided hatchery tours are a fun and educational activity for all ages. At Paradise, you can see the life-cycle of hatchery fish from the farm to the dinner table. Open early April through mid-October.
SKIING & SNOWBOARDING

HORSEBACK RIDING
Mountain Creek Riding Stables – Mountain Creek Riding Stable is a family-friendly business offering horseback riding tours in the Poconos. Other riding stable related activities are available for all ages and experience levels. For those who want to visit the riding stables and be around horses but do not want to ride on top of the horse, the horse-drawn wagon rides are a great option. Riding in the wagon, pulled by a gorgeous pair of horses, is a relaxing way to enjoy nature as it follows the trail ride along a scenic wooded trail.
