Mount Airy Casino Resort Unveils New Art Installation from Local Artist Leigh Pawling
The collection, commissioned by the Resort, includes eight new pieces on display at The Buffet
Mount Pocono, Pa. (April 2022) – Mount Airy Casino Resort revealed a new collection of artwork in The Buffet at Mount Airy, one of the property’s seven dining locations. The pieces, inspired by their current setting, were created by local artist Leigh Pawling who is from Kingston, PA and commissioned by the resort in an effort to support local artists.
“It’s important that we are able to support the local community and that includes opportunities to showcase the work of local artists within our walls,” said Lisa DeNaples, owner and managing trustee of Mount Airy Casino Resort. “By commissioning these new works and displaying them in some of the most high-traffic areas of the resort, we hope it shines a new light on the talent right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
For the commission, Pawling embraced a representational style to bring the bold colors and shapes of various fruits and vegetables to the walls of the popular dining location. The initial vision was a collaborative experience for Pawling and the Mount Airy team, but the work is highly reflective of the artist’s signature technique of incorporating single focal points with a chaotic background.
Pawling worked directly with the Mount Airy Casino Resort team and interior designer Sharon Lehman to bring in art that would complement the area it would be housed within, creating brighter atmosphere for guests and employees alike. This is the fifth, and most recent, space within the Mount Airy Casino Resort campus that Pawling has been commissioned to create work for, which also includes the High Limit Room in the Casino, the Private Dining Room, the Event Center and an alcove adjacent to the casino floor. Overall, 24 pieces by Pawling are currently on display at Mount Airy Casino Resort.

About Leigh Pawling
Leigh Pawling is a Pennsylvania Rostered Artist and is one of the painting instructors for the vital Arts Alive program housed at Marywood University. She has works exclusively as an artist showing in numerous solo and group shows.
